Liver and Biliary Diseases:
The department deals with the entire spectrum of diseases of the liver and biliary tract requiring medical and surgical treatment. We provide specialized care for patients suffering from biliary diseases, both acquired and congenital. We have also initiated a ‘Bile Duct Helpline’, a novel initiative to provide interest free support to patients with bile duct injuries and to the physicians involved in their care. Portal Hypertension:
Extra-hepatic Portal Hypertension (including extrahepatic portal venous obstruction and non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis) is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent. As it mainly affects children and young adults, it is essential to diagnose and treat this condition at the earliest. We provide a one-step surgical solution for these diseases in the form of Shunt Surgery. For other causes of portal hypertension or in cases where shunt surgery is not feasible, Devascularisation Surgery is performed.
