He is an accomplished Liver Transplant anaesthesiologist who has managed peri-operative care for more than 100 liver transplantation procedures with results at par with the very best centers in the world. Over 20% of these transplants have been performed in pediatric and acute liver failure patients. At Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (New Delhi), where he worked as Associate Professor, he had the unique distinction of being the pioneer of establishing successful liver transplant program in the public sector in India as well as initiating the first and only fellowship course in Liver transplant (PDCC in Liver Transplant Anesthesia and Critical Care) and degree course (DM in Organ Transplant Anesthesia and Critical Care) duly accredited by Medical Council of India. Besides this he has been instrumental in planning and execution for commissioning the brachytherapy unit, neuroanaesthesia facility and BMT (bone marrow transplant) unit at ACTREC (Advanced Centre for Research, Education and Treatment in Cancer), Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.
He has over 32 publications in national, international journals of repute and various textbooks. He is a faculty in different liver transplant anaesthesia, general anaesthesia, and Critical care and pain management meetings and has delivered more than 50 lectures in national & international conferences. He is a life member of ISA (Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists), ISCCM (Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine) & ISSP (Indian Society for the Study of Pain). His keen interests are Liver Transplant Anaesthesia, Liver Critical Care, Oncoanaesthesia, Acute Postoperative Pain Management, Cancer Pain Management and Palliative Care.
